How it works
How a CAD project runs with ZCAD
A simple sequence, with your approval before anything is printed. We agree the scope and price with you before work starts.
The four steps
-
Share your brief
Send a brief, sketch, photo, reference piece or existing CAD file, with any sizes and stone details you have.
-
We review and clarify
We check the scope, ask about anything unclear and agree the work and price with you before we start.
-
CAD for approval
We prepare or amend the CAD and share it with you. You approve it or ask for changes.
-
Renders and printing
When they are part of the agreed work, we produce renders and print the wax model after you approve the CAD.
What to send us
The more we know at the start, the fewer questions we need to ask later. Useful information includes:
- Sketches, photos or reference images, including views from more than one angle if you have them.
- Finger size, dimensions or the size of a reference piece.
- Stone shapes, sizes and setting styles.
- The metal you plan to cast in.
- For amendments: the existing CAD file and a clear note of what should change.
Approval comes before printing
We share the CAD with you before anything is printed. You can approve it or ask for changes. Printing and renders only go ahead once you have approved the model and when they are part of the agreed work.
Timing
Timing depends on the job and our current workload. We will tell you when to expect the CAD when we agree the work.

Tell us about the piece and what you already have. We will reply with what is needed, how we would approach it and the best way to send any files.
